Fall 2017 Semester ends 12/18 & 21/2017
Spring 2018 Semester:
Mondays: 1/15/18 – 5/21/18
Thursdays: 1/18/18 – 5/24/18
Required Forms for Registration
There are three (3) required forms which must be turned in at the time of registration and are located on the Required Forms Page. Also, one parent and all students 6th grade and up are required to sign the last page of the Orientation Handbook which will be provided to each registered family and turn this in prior to attending classes.
Parents of PK-6th grade children must remain on campus while their children are in classes. Grace Homeschool Classes is a co-op-type program, so we need help from the parents. Therefore, as part of the program, these parents will need to help and will be assigned to help at least one or more hours each week in classes or other assignment, depending on the number of classes your children are enrolled in. In case of an emergency, vacation, or other situation where your younger children will still be coming to their classes in your absence, we must have a Parent Absence Waiver (Forms Page) filled out so we know who will be responsible for your children because you must have another adult take responsibility for your children as well as take over your parent helping assignment for you.
Parents who have ONLY students taking 7-12th grade classes are not required to remain on campus, but will be asked to help in classes one to two times per semester on both days of classes of student enrollment. These parents are welcome to help weekly in their child’s classes if they desire. Any parent who can commit to being a weekly parent helper in more than one of their child’s upper grade classes, a tuition discount may be available. Any upper grade parent who is unable to come to the campus to help due to employment or other circumstances MUST REQUEST TO OPT-OUT OF PARENT HELPING and pay a fee of $50 in lieu of helping – of course not all upper grade parents can opt out, so your request will be reviewed and and granted on a case-by-case basis.
When a parent helper is assigned to help, we really need them to be there. We know things happen and we will allow for extenuating circumstances. We grace you 2 parent helper absences and 2 times of being late, but for the 3rd and each absence or tardy thereafter, there will be $5 charge per week of absence.
Any parent who is assigned/scheduled to help on campus and does not show up will be fined $25 each no-show. We have a parent helper coordinator who must be contacted to let her know you will be late or absent. Her contact info will be given to enrolled families.
Coursework & Homework
For all classes and grade levels, the teacher does lesson plans and assigns any homework, but it is still the parent’s responsibility to oversee and possibly correct student’s homework (if requested by teacher). If using any classes as core classes (not enrichment), it is the parent’s responsibility to make sure the required hours of course work per semester are completed as they may need to supplement what the teacher already plans.
For 7-12th students, all grades and records will be part of an online program called Alma. Teachers will be posting assignments and communicating through this system which we will go over at the orientation meeting. Parents will need to login and keep track of their child’s progress and grades. A cumulative semester grade report will be sent out at the end of each semester.
All students and any parents remaining on campus, please dress modestly. For girls, we do not allow short shorts (must have 5-inch inseam) or short skirts unless wearing leggings. We also do not allow backless tops or camis only-all tank tops should be at least “lasagna” width. No undergarments should ever be showing by boys or girls. If dressing modestly becomes an issue with any student, we will have t-shirts to be worn for the day.
Cell Phone Usage
There is no cell phone use during class time, either as a student or parent helpers. Students who take out their phones during class time without teacher permission will have their phones confiscated until the end of class or possibly the end of their school day.
Orientation to Grace Program
Before the start of each semester, we have a MANDATORY family orientation meeting where we will go over all of these policies and lots more! ONE PARENT AND ALL ENROLLED STUDENTS MUST ATTEND!!
