(Please note that this class is the same as our previous General Lit-Comp class offered in 2024-25 with the same literature books, but we have just changed the class name. A student who took our previous General Lit-Comp class in 2025-26 can take this class as a different high school English class)
The aim of this class is to develop students’ writing skills while also studying some classic and fascinating literature. The focus of the fall semester is on various essay styles, from informative to persuasive to opposing arguments and more. Students will learn how to structure different essay types and will practice composing compelling pieces of writing. They will also study the correct use of commas so they are able to punctuate their writing correctly. Combined with essay writing will be the study of three fabulous literature books By the end of the year, students should be comfortable with the structure of a formal essay and able to approach writing one with confidence.
