ONE YEAR CLASS:
Suggested for 11th & 12th grade students for high school English credit, this class will introduce some classic British literature and poetry from the 19th and 20th centuries. Students will learn about the different artistic periods of these years and study the impact of contemporary history on the writing. There will be much opportunity to further develop their essay writing skills with persuasive and informative essays on a variety of subjects. Students will also learn how to address counter arguments with rebuttals, making their points convincing and memorable. By the end of the year, they should be well grounded in the influences on British writers of the time and familiar with some of the major authors and poets.
