ONE YEAR CLASS (10 student maximum):
This elective class for high school will introduce the students to the world of ceramics.
In the fall they will be using clay to make projects like pinch pots, coil bowls, and slab pots, etc., and use glazing techniques to finish their projects. They will also learn what clay and glazes are made of, and what happens to them when they go through the firing process. In the spring the students will be learning about slip casting molds, cleaning unmolded greenware, as well as learning more advanced glazing techniques. This class is dependent on attendance and participation, both in class and on work done at home. Students will be required to come to class with their tool kit each week, and to be diligent to make sure their projects are turned in on time for firings.
*Please note that the two bisque projects for Fall semester will be Christmas and/or winter-themed so are different than the Spring semester summer-themed projects. Any student who is currently in the Beginning Ceramics 1 Spring 2025 class could take the Fall class.
