Class Description:

ONE YEAR CLASS (Please note that a student who took this class last year in 8th grade can take it again for 9th grade as the books studied are switched every other year):

In this English class, students will study the structure of a formal essay while we read some fabulous literature. They will practice the various elements that make up an essay through writing exercises, essay prompts and literature critique. By the end of the year, they should be able to handle with ease the skeletal frame that supports a formal essay and use it for any subject. Students will also expand their vocabulary as they master the meanings and use of new words and spend time thinking critically about novel themes and authorial choices.

*This is a great class for 9th grade students who may need improvement in writing skills.
