Thursday HS (PM2C) – HS Finance

ONE YEAR CLASS:

This year‑long finance course equips students with the practical money skills they need for real‑life independence. Throughout the year, students learn how to budget, understand taxes, manage spending, and make wise financial decisions. The course is designed to help teens build strong financial habits they can use now and carry confidently into adulthood. By the end of the year, students will have a solid foundation for managing their finances responsibly and with peace of mind. A key component of the course is the updated Dave Ramsey video series. Each lesson begins with a short, engaging 5–6-minute video that introduces essential financial concepts in a clear, relatable way. Following the video, students move into a structured lesson that includes assessments to check understanding, homeschool‑specific activities that reinforce learning, and devotionals that connect financial wisdom with personal character and values. This combination of practical instruction, interactive activities, and character‑building reflections creates a comprehensive learning experience that prepares students for real‑world financial success.

*HS Finance will be a requirement to graduate in the state of California so please check with your PSP or charter.

*Please note that the teacher will be using the curriculum “Foundations in Personal Finance: Homeschool Edition” so students will be provided what they need through the supply fee which is included in the class fee so no curriculum purchase needed. If parent would like to purchase the same curriculum to have at home for further study, they are welcome to do that at the Dave Ramsey website.
