Grace Homeschool Classes has been offering outside-of-the-home classes for Christian homeschooling families for over ten years. Our classes are not a school, but enrichment and academic classes taught by experienced tutors to aid parents who are dedicated to teaching their children. We are blessed to be able to hold our classes at a church in Murrieta just off the 15 freeway, serving families in the Temecula Valley and surrounding areas.
** Families currently in the program are given first choice for registration and classes. Any new family who wants to have their children take classes must first fill out a Family Info form which can be obtained by emailing cathypargee@gracehomeschoolclasses.com. After receipt, you will then be given details to attend an interest meeting and schedule a family interview to be accepted into the program. Grace Homeschool Classes has a limit as to how many families they can accept so no new family is guaranteed registration for classes. **
All families (new and returning) must register each semester and there is a non-refundable fee to register
Classes
All our classes are one hour unless specified as longer (55 minutes of class time and 5 minutes to move between classes). Beside our class schedule which comes out each semester, all the information about each class, including the time and day offered, class description, fee amount, teacher and curriculum needed is listed in our Academics section under each grade level. The class fees include any supplies and materials needed by teacher for each class, but they do not include individual student required curriculum, if applicable, and this must be purchased separately by parent, using the the class information or look to the curriculum list each semester.
Parent Involvement
Grace Homeschool Classes is a co-op-type program in that we have to have help from parents in order to operate the program. All parents will sign an agreement that they will commit to helping each semester.
Parents of Jr High/HS students taking Tuesday or Thursday upper grade classes can drop off their child/ren for classes, and parents are not required to remain on campus with them. The parents ARE required to come in to help at Grace each quarter (two times per semester) as a substitute helper for the number of hours that amounts to the time their child is in their classes on one or both of those class days. A $50 refundable one-time deposit will be added to each account automatically as their promise to come help as required. These parents will be assigned dates/hours to come to Grace and help as needed. If parent does not come to help as promised/required, they will lose deposit and may not be allowed to re-register for the following semester (unless shown to be extenuating circumstances). This deposit will be carried over to any consecutive semester or refunded if not returning to Grace Classes and helping commitment is fulfilled. Since parents are homeschooling their children, parents will no longer have the option to opt of coming to Grace to help.
Parents of PK-8th children taking Wednesday classes must remain on campus while their children are in their classes. Wednesdays will no longer be drop off for 6th and up students. Each parent will be assigned to help at least one or more hours each week either in classes, snack table, hall monitor, study hall, or other assignment as needed. The number of hours assigned as a parent helper depends on the number of classes their children are in. We always give parents one hour off from helping while they are on campus. In case of an emergency, vacation, or other situation where younger children will still be coming to their classes in parent’s absence, parent will need to send another adult who can take their place to be responsible for their children and also take their place for helping at Grace.
Coursework & Homework
For all classes and grade levels, the teacher does lesson plans and assigns any homework, but since families are homeschooling, it is still the parent’s responsibility to oversee and possibly correct student’s homework (if requested by teacher). If using any classes as core classes (not enrichment), it is the parent’s responsibility to make sure the required hours of course work per semester are completed as they may need to supplement what the teacher already plans. For graded classes only, Grace Homeschool Classes provides progress reports every 4 weeks to show how your child is doing in the class, as well as a final semester grade report showing the percentage the student has earned; that is the grade the parent should put on their own reports cards.
Dress Code
All students and any parents remaining on campus, please dress modestly. For girls, we do not allow short shorts (must have 5-inch inseam) or short skirts. If wearing leggings, bottoms must be covered at all times. No tummies showing, and we also do not allow backless tops or camis only as a top-all tank tops should be at least one inch in with, no spaghetti straps. No undergarments should ever be shown by boys or girls. No questionable or offensive logos allowed. If dressing modestly becomes an issue with any student, we will have t-shirts and oversized shorts to be worn for the day.
Orientation to Grace Homeschool Classes
Before classes start in the Fall, we have a mandatory Orientation Meeting for parents and all students. At the time of orientation, families will be sent the Grace Homeschool Classes Orientation Handbook which sets out all our program information and the policies and rules of the program. For new families joining in the Spring semester, they will receive the Orientation Handbook at the family interview. Parents and all 6th and up students will need to read through it, and sign and return the last page as their agreement to adhere to all Grace rules and policies as set out in the handbook.
