ONE YEAR CLASS:
IEW Writing is a fabulous curriculum that provides students with solid tools they can use to make their writing stronger. Week by week, different elements are introduced that improve the rhythm and impact of prose, and students consistently practice them, including examples of each in every piece of homework.
The curriculum combines Language Arts with History, and the focus this year is on modern world history. We’ll be using texts spanning from the invention of the printing press in the 1400s to the political situation in modern-day Korea as the basis of what to write about. Students will be introduced to many different structures of writing, from narrative to inventive to formal essays. Throughout the year, they will also study 76 vocabulary words and be encouraged to use these in their compositions. Whether your student is an avid writer or a reluctant one, this course will help them gain confidence and improve.
