ONE YEAR CLASS:
ASB is a student body for Grace jr. high and high school students. Students will learn how to take an idea for an event, and then be given a budget to plan and do everything it takes for the event to happen. They will fundraise, advertise and oversee the event from set up to clean up. The student body officers hold roles as President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasure, Jr, Spirit Rep. There will also be committees within ASB Community service/Fundraising, yearbook, and Events. Students in office seats will learn their role as a Grace leader on campus to their peers. Students who do not hold an office seat will still participate in voting, planning, making posters and working in teams to make planned events successful. ASB students will also lead the Grace assemblies on Tuesday and Thursdays. Student training starts in the summertime. This is a graded class so students will need to put in the work both in class and at home to succeed in ASB!
Requirements to be in ASB: Students 8th & up must complete the application and interview and have a 3.0 or higher GPA. Students chosen to be a part of ASB will need to attend 6 events per school year. Students must have taken or be enrolled in the Leadership class. Students must have their own Gmail account or access to email. Students will need to be in group text even if it’s on parent’s phone. All students must choose a team even if you are on a board seat. Students must have “Remind App” as this is how the teacher will communicate to them fast. Students must have access to a phone, computer, printer and occasionally Zoom for some meetings. Students must have a planner or calendar to bring each week. Students must also meet over the summer time (dates and location will be given at a later date). Parents of ASB students must agree to help with 1 event per school year.
