*Tuesday HS (AM0A) – Algebra 1 (Teaching Textbooks)

ONE YEAR CLASS:

This comprehensive course will cover all the basic algebraic concepts (definitions, signs and expressions) and principles for logically solving, transposing and canceling algebraic equations, using Teaching Textbooks curriculum. Teaching Textbooks is a complete core math curriculum and has helped high schoolers gain a firm foundation in upper-level math. The review-method structure helps students build problem solving skills as they practice core concepts and rote techniques. It reviews basic operations and pre-algebra concepts at the beginning. Other lessons cover functions, relations, statistics, probability, graphing with a calculator, the quadratic formula, absolute value, two-variable inequalities, and other more-challenging topics. This rigorous class will including in class teaching and weekly problem sets are assigned for homework and will need to be corrected and scored by the parent using the answer key. Students should review lessons and rework any missed problems until correct. They must turn in problem set homework on paper with problems worked out and answers shown to receive full homework credit. Chapter tests will be taken at home under parental supervision, but there will also be in-class quizzes on the same material.
