In Matthew 24:19-20, Jesus said, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Evangelism, which is spreading the gospel, is important to Jesus and He told us so before He ascended to heaven. And the mission field is ripe for the harvest, and can be across the street or across the world. In Matthew 9:37-38, Jesus said, “Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.’” Jesus came so that we may live, and He wants everyone to know this truth so they, too, can be part of God’s holy kingdom. That’s why studying missions and evangelism is so important.
