*Prerequisite: 1st Year Biology Course
This continuing one-year lab science course concentrates on marine wildlife and marine habitats and will provide a survey of members of each biological kingdom that live in marine environments. Students will learn about the microscopic organisms that make life in the ocean possible, including details about their interesting habits and life cycles, getting to see many under the microscope. They will also learn about the anatomy of many macroscopic marine creatures such as shark and crayfish with dissections in the 2nd semester; how these creatures and their physical surroundings form marine ecosystems such as inter-tidal zones, estuaries, coral reefs, continental shelf communities, epi-pelagic communities, and deep-ocean communities. The course ends with a study of marine resources and our relationship with the sea. *New students are welcome to join this class mid-year!
