Class Description:

NEW PK CLASS (6 student max):

In this class, PK students ages 3 and 4 will explore the many ways people serve in our community — from firefighters and police officers to librarians, mail carriers, construction workers, and more. Through engaging stories, creative crafts, and hands-on activities, children will learn how these helpers show kindness and care in their everyday work. They will discover what the Bible teaches about serving others with gratitude and love, and find simple ways to show appreciation to those who help make our community strong. They will also get to create gifts and cards to give to community helpers. For a child to take this class, they should be able to follow 2-step instructions, sit for a read aloud book, and participate in group discussion, but will also grow in their listening skills, reading comprehension, fine motor skills, and creativity. Pre-reading skills such as letter knowledge, phonological awareness (rhyming, beginning and ending sounds, etc.), and narrative skills will also be introduced and practiced. Students will complete this class with an understanding of helpers in the community, how we can help others, and ways to show appreciation with a happy heart.
