Thursday HS (PM2B) – Chemistry w/ Labs

ONE YEAR CLASS  (Prerequisite:  Proficiency in Algebra 1 or above level math):

This one-year high school lab science course is designed to be a first-year high school chemistry course. It will give students a rigorous foundation in chemistry, in order to prepare for a college-level course. Topics covered will be significant figures, units, classification, the mole concept, stoichiometry, thermochemistry, thermodynamics, kinetics, acids and bases, redox reactions, solutions, atomic structure, Lewis structures, molecular geometry, the gas laws, and equilibrium. The textbook contains all student material, review questions, laboratory exercises, and practice problems, with most labs done in class. The answer key is used for corrections at home of module questions and study guides. Students will cover material in each module in the text over a two week period, and there will be a teacher-prepared test at the end of each module.
