*Tuesday HS Elective (AM2A) – Beginning Ceramics 1 & 2

ONE SEMESTER EACH (16 student maximum): 

Beginning Ceramics 1 and 2 will introduce the students to the world of ceramics. Students will be using clay to make pinch and slab projects, with an introduction to coil work.  They will also be working on pre-fired bisque projects.  And they will use glazing and acrylic staining techniques to finish their projects.  In this class, they will also learn what clay and glazes are made of, and what happens to them when they go through the firing process.  This class is time-sensitive and dependent on attendance and participation, both in class and on work done at home. Students will be required to come to class with their tool kit each week, and to be diligent to make sure their projects are turned in on time for firings.
