ONE YEAR CLASS
This advanced literature and writing course incorporates thoughtful open-classroom discussion, lecture, and some presentations, and is best for 11th and 12th grades. It familiarizes students with a wide range of famous literature throughout history, dating as far back as the middle ages and including the Romantic, Victorian, the Gothic, and Dystopian. Each era is given a novel that helped shape the transformations of literature across time. In addition to the books for class, other authors we will touch upon are Geoffrey Chaucer, Christopher Marlowe, Robert Louis Stevenson, Aldous Huxley, and H.G. Wells. Students will have 2 essays per semester where they will practice articulating their comprehension and interpretations of the literature in class or stretch creative muscles in writing. This two-hour course is meant for Juniors and Seniors as the content is deeply complex, and benefits more mature students who are ready to navigate complex subjects from ethics to economics, all from a Christian perspective.
