Thursday *JH & HS Elective (AM2A) – Beginning Guitar

ONE YEAR CLASS – No New Students:

This class will be a beginning level introduction to learning to play the guitar with the basics of the instrument, chords, fret board mapping, language of music, strumming in time, and playing songs as assigned. Students will not only need to attend class for demonstration, learning and practice, but it is very important for students to practice weekly as homework what they have learned and prepare for tests. Students will keep notes and handouts in a 3-ring binder, turn in practice log weekly documenting 2.5 hours (30 minutes/day which must be verified by parent signature on practice log), participate in periodic demonstrations on what they have learned, and exams will cover fret board knowledge, vocabulary, and performance.

*Student will need a guitar and tuner for in class instruction and practice at home.
