Wednesday 1-6th (PM3) – Learning with Legos

*Class will go with a minimum of 6 students In this new fun one-semester class, students will get to work on fun, easy-to-make Lego activities. There will be a new theme every week to include: Famous landmarks, balloon car, marble run, zip-line, Lego bridge, Lego boat, tic tac toe, speed builds, mini-figures, and more!  All students will need is a little imagination and a handful of Lego bricks (provided by teacher). Wednesday 3-5/6th (AM1B) – Our 50 States (U.S. Geography)

Students will "travel" across the United States and explore the geography and uniqueness of all fifty States. Highlights of the class include: Capital Cities, State Facts, Historical Beginnings, Natural Wonders and Economic Industries/Resources. Wednesday 4-6th (AM1A) – IEW Grammar & Spelling

IEW has revised their Fix It! curriculum this year.  Where they previously had three books for the third through eighth grade levels, they now have five books.  Town Mouse and Country Mouse is a brand new book that's the second in the curriculum series.  Students will learn the parts of speech and practice editing, or "fixing," sentences each week in their books.   They will also be able to rewrite grammatically correct sentences in paragraph form, and practice and test on spelling words each … [Read more...]

Wednesday JH (AM2B) – Math 6 (Teaching Textbooks)

Taught by an experienced math teacher, this continuing one-year course will cover all the 6th grade level concepts with instruction and practice in class, and student will complete assigned lesson problem sets at home. There will also be lots of review so students can go over any problem areas so they understand the concepts taught. Wednesday 5th-JH (PM1B) – Cooking American Style

Just like the world cuisine cooking class from last year, in this new continuing one-year class, students will learn their way around a kitchen as they learn culinary vocabulary, use all sorts of  utensils, measure ingredients, and more. Wednesday 4-6th (AM2) – Flying Creatures

This continuing one-year science course will explore the dynamics of flight and animal classification, learning about birds, bats, insects, doing hands-on experiments and keeping a field journal, using the Apologia Zoology 1 curriculum.
